
Insidious is a throw-back horror film that doesn’t rely on gore or surprise quick cuts. To promote the film, the site gives quick access to the standard movie trailer, filmmakers & cast bio, and select production stills. Additionally, two corresponding blogs were developed to target niche audiences. One that functions as the movie characters’ ghost-hunting business site. The other, targeting people with great interest in the paranormal that parallels the narrative of the haunted family in the movie. To help promote the movie on Facebook, an app was created that mimics the ghost-hunting gadgets used by the movie’s paranormal investigators. Visitors are able to upload, scan, and share photos to see if they’re being haunted.
